And for those who are afraid to keep posting after being warned once, there's always the witness protection program...

Ah, no really, I like this system myself. No post count means no competitiveness to post more, and more competitiveness to post better material. I'm all in favor of it, not that that matters.

Your opinion does matter.

Anyway, yeah, I don't mind the counter gone. And I agree with THX, soeone who continues to disobey doesn't need to be here anyway. You would have to be stupid to continuously do that too.... .some people... god...

Actually, this is a great idea. I have been a site admin / forum moderator for other games. I can tell from personal experience that there is nothing more annoying than visiting your "hard worked site" to find every thread posted in with things like "LOL" errrr....

Most of the Time of moderators will be spent combing the forums when spam is rampent. This takes time away from them answering legitamite questions, sharing experience, and most importantly, enjoying the game.

Besides the Toned forums are a major bonus for information gathering.

Im glad to see the whole competitive postcount thing is gone. Now the competitive people have to post quality, because spamming out the forums for presence through posting junk will get you the opposite reputation you shoot for.

Okay, maybe you guys should change the warning from double post, which in every other forum I've ever been in means posting the same thing twice, to too short or you type too quickly. Just because my posts were one right after the other, does not make them a double post. I don't feel it should be necessary to open several windows to different posts in a thread to cut and paste points into a single reply. I just discovered my missing post has been pasted onto the previous post by a moderator who says it was a double post. I reply to posts as I read them, I don't read an entire thread and then go back and reply to all of them at once. Thanks.

If you replied multiple times before anyone else did then you double posted. A double post happens anytime you post in succession. Doesn't matter if you post something different or not - our boards have spam filters in place to prevent the accidental reposting of a duplicate message so it's very hard to make such a double post - it doesn't matter if they're unique or not, only that no one else's thoughts come between them. We have edit buttons on all posts, there's no excuse for not using them to add your latest thoughts to your last post. If you want to quote someone then you can use the edit button and add it to the end of your last post. Or wait until someone else responds. Anything else is a double post, is spam, is rank post count ++ery, and may or may not be deleted as we see fit. Do it enough and you'll be banned.

If you don't like that, too bad, it's our message board and you're more than welcome not to post here.

Hello Sin,

Enjoy your ban! mwahahahahahaha

To be serious, the fact is that on any popular forums there are always people [I like to call them 'internet thugs'] who try to unbalance it. Its like exploiting in a game.

The best analogy is a game developer. Sure they only have a job if they make a game that is popular with people, but they have to set rules and enforce them. If people act out of hand they need to take care of it. And if you don't like how they take care of it, you can leave. Same here. Our job per se is to nurture this forum. To that end we have taken steps to create rules and regulations to make sure no one abuses the system. Often time banned people will have their buddies post a 'why did my friend get banned?'. There is no reason for it to go public. And that is the point of the admins - we keep the dirt off the boards so that normal Joe and Jane users never see it.

Hope that makes it less arrogant (I mean ... Spooky's infatuation with kitty ears should put you at total ease). And I will not even get into specifics (not that I should need to), but S.Rex, Spooky, and THX are the most unselfish, nice, and intelligent admins around. And they do more for the community than almost anyone else.

I read your post about ten times, and other than tangential logic, I fail to see what your point even is ....

Yes we create rules. Stating the obvious [as what S.Rex did] has nothing to do with spammers winning or us showing frustration. Its the truth. We set rules which we believe are the best - if you don't like it, go ahead and argue your viewpoint. But we are not a monopoly nor the official forums - no one is making you stay here. That is your discretion.

Other than that, you seem to be stuck in perpetual circular logic. Obsession with a single line is how out-of-context misunderstanding arises.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Except I thought trolls died if sunlight hit them by turning them to stone right before they killed 13 Dwarves and a Hobbit.

I like the fact that the post count has been removed.

Will these boards be wiped and reset upon release of the game next week?

QUESTION: How will you keep track of the 5 warnings and will you inform the person if they violated this rule? PM us or something so we know just in case we didn't mean to do this...

I would like to second Cicciro's motion to crack down on rampant idiocy on this site. There are plenty of other forums for that - we don't need to be yet another. Those of you who are part of the problem certainly aren't aware of it, but everyone else does - hopefully our moderation staff will be messaging you to let you know that your utterly vapid comments are not appreciated.

Of course, I'm forced to ask-why would anyone care what their post count is? Do you win something for high post counts? Just sounds like a silly thing to strive for to me.
